2 Cor 12:9

2 Corinthians 129

…MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU, FOR MY POWER IS MADE PERFECT IN WEAKNESS… 2 Cor 12:9

In this promise God is telling Paul, “I am the grace. I am all you need. I will give you what you need to face your trials and adversity.” As we learned in another promise of God, He doesn’t just give us strength, He becomes our strength. God is continually offering to give us more of Himself…He doesn’t just hear our prayer and say, “here is some grace, here is some strength” and then leave us to muddle through. He stays with us and is the answer to our needs.

God wants us to come to Him in our weakness…when we reach the end of ourselves…when we get to the place that we feel we can’t go on… or that we have nothing left…as a believer, we need not despair, or give up hope… our place of weakness, is where God’s power can become perfect in us.  The word, “perfect” that is used here means fulfilled, accomplished, completed, finished. Many Biblical scholars say it is a form of the same word Jesus spoke as His last word on the cross,  which means, “it is finished”. Christ’s presence in our lives equips us for all we face in life…the Bible tells us that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, is  the same power that is inside of us. There is no greater power than that my friends! He is  our strength…He is our grace…He is our power…He alone is all we need…that should encourage us and fill you with hope that not only can we survive all that we face, but we can thrive in the midst of adversity, because He is with us, giving us more of Himself and His life changing and sustaining power.

Psalm 28:7

Psalm 287

THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH AND MY SHIELD; MY HEART TRUSTS IN HIM, AND HE HELPS ME – PSALM 28:7

This verse is such an encouragement during times of trial and struggle. So, often when we feel weak, we pray, “Lord, give me strength.” There are many scriptures that talk about God being strong in our weakness. This verse reminds us that we shouldn’t depend on God just to give us strength, we should rely on Him to be our strength. A shepherd knows and anticipates what the needs of his flock are. Jesus as the Good Shepherd, knows our needs as well.

When someone is feeling worn out and weak, they are vulnerable…physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually … they are not at their best and they need protection and help. Jesus, as our Shepherd, offers that protection along with His strength. He puts a hedge of protection about us and keeps a watchful eye on us.

Our God in His goodness, supplies all that we need…always. As we trust Him, lean on Him and depend on Him, He helps us.  Our ability to meet our challenges comes from the Lord. He is our strength, power and provider.  He will not fail us.

If you are struggling today, don’t be afraid to trust the Lord…don’t think that you have to face things by yourself…come to Him in your weakness and find rest. Let Him lead you beside the still waters so He can restore your soul and help you to regain your strength.

Phil 4:13

I can do all things

I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME. Phil 4:13

In this verse we are given assurance that we can face anything in this life… not by our own strength, but by being infused with Christ’s strength in us. The Bible says in Romans 8:11 that the same power and strength that raised Christ from the dead, is the same power that is in us. As believers, we also have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that empowers us and enables us.

When we say that we can’t do something because it is too hard, or we can’t take anymore …in our own strength that might be true… but we have this promise and assurance that what we can’t do on our own, we can do through Jesus. We can find peace and contentment in our circumstances because we are equipped by God Himself. What a comfort to know our sufficiency is in Him and not ourselves.

This verse should remove any sense of dread, anxiousness or hopelessness we might feel and we can feel empowered and confident in Christ. We can face each day, knowing that we can get through and cope with every trial, hurt, loss, temptation, or difficult situation with Christ’s help. It’s with His power that we can love as He loves and forgive as He forgives.

Be encouraged friend…you have the strength to overcome, because of who strengthens you!
